Your paddling journey

The club caters for all abilities and disciplines, from a leisurely paddle with a group of like minded paddlers to specific disciplines like Surf Kayaking, Sea Kayaking, White Water Kayaking, Moving Water Kayaking. Whatever your interest we will cater for you, this is dependant on club coach availability and numbers on the day. The club coaches British Canoe Awards up to Paddle Explore in all disciplines, please remember all of our coaches are volunteers so this is subject to availability. Swimming pool sessions are run throughout the winter months (at an additional cost to cover pool hire) which allows members to practice their skills in warm clear water throughout the winter months.

The club has a growing group of paddleboarders of all ages and abilities who can go off on their own for a pleasant paddle or join in with the other groups for "Skills and Drills" or a journey. Coaching, when available, will help you get started with balance and the different strokes and techniques to control the paddleboard.

The club has a dedicated canoeing group who paddle on Thursdays. This group can go for a pleasant flat water social paddle, coaching in skills to achieve your desired British Canoe Award if this is what you wish to do, just paddle with like minded paddlers, learn numerous skills including many different paddle strokes, tandum paddling, rafted paddling, sailing a canoe, poling etc. Although the canoe section predominantly paddles flat / slow moving water rivers during the winter white water trips are run for those who wish to participate. Social paddle trips with picnic's are arranged throughout the year, some are club trips run by coaches and some are just peer trips arranged by members.

Finally
The benefits of paddling

Sharing an experience

Paddling can be a solitary journey or the shared experience of drifting down river, exploring inlets, watching the wild life and taking in a sunset from a different perspective. It can be the excitement of "Skills & Drills", games and just plain messing about on the river in a safe and controlled manner. As you progress through the paddling season you will find yourself slowly getting fitter. Paddling is good for the soul and gives you a sense of achievement after you master a new skill. You can do all this no matter your age and abilities.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
~ Kenneth Grahame.
